Our seat wedges allow quick and easy adjustment of seat height. They fit under the cushion so the contoured top surface is not affected. The wedges are usually made to match the material used on the outer parts of the main seat cushion.
The wedges provide 3 standard height options, no wedges, 1 wedge, or 2 wedges. When using one wedge, the short wedge is used. when using two wedges, a short wedge is used on the bottom with a long wedge above it. The reason for this is to maintain the proper incline of the seat cushion. If the angle of the seat cushion becomes too level, it is not as comfortable to sit in. This arrangment maintains the the incline needed for comfortable seating.
Each wedge lifts the seat about 1.5 inches. It is difficult to determine how many booster cushions will be needed before you have the seats. we recommend ordering the minimum amount you estimate that you will need at first. You can order additional wedges later if needed, and the turn around time is not long for seat wedges.
Cloth
Cloth seat wedges have cloth on the end caps and in the stick opening (the only places that show when they are installed). The remaining areas are made with matching vinyl.
We have cloths available in a variety of colors and patterns. These materials are easily cleaned with standard upholstery cleaners. They are breathable and very durable.
Synthetic Leather
These wedges are upholstered using all synthetic leather (as opposed to vinyl). This is the reason for the higher cost.
Our synthetic leather is designed to have the feel of natural leather. Like vinyl it is constructed with a cloth backing for durability, however it features a Urethane face that gives it a soft and pleasant feel. Synthetic leather has the advantage of weighing less than natural leather, although it is not as durable. Please be aware that some extra care must be taken to avoid damage to this material.
Leather matching vinyl
If your seats are made with our Orion leather, you will want to use the appropriate Orion vinyl for your seat wedges.
Our Orion vinyl is available in the same colors as our Orion leather. It is used for areas where it is less practical or beneficial to use natural leather. It is one of highest quality vinyls available.
Visco Elastic Foam
Seat wedges can be made completely out of visco elastic foam. This option is mainly to go with seats that are also made completely out of visco elastic foam. For more information on "All Visco Elastic" seats, see the individual seat pages:
